QUINN NANCY BORLAND Passed away peacefully March 4, 2019 at Broadmore at the Lake Senior Living. She was 87 years old. Nancy was the middle of three children born to Curry Randolph Borland and Ann Doyle Borland. Nancy's siblings Susan Borland Sweeney and Curry Sam Randolph Borland predeceased Nancy. She was born December 28, 1931. Nancy grew up in Dormont (PA) and attended St. Mary of the Mount High School. She raised her family in nearby Scott Township. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis T Quinn, whom she met while working at the Pennsylvania Railroad. She is survived by her two children, Randolph and Roderic Quinn; her grandchildren Hilary, Rebecca, and Rory, all of whom she loved more than life itself. Nancy is also survived by over a dozen nieces and nephews and countless friends. Nancy was a committed Catholic and attended Mass for over 50 years at Our Lady of Grace Parish until she set out on a new adventure to live in an apartment in St. Thomas More Manor in Bethel Park. NIGRO VIRGINIA M. Age 92, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 24, 1926 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Crystol) Beondy. She was the wife of the late John N. Nigro who passed away July 29, 2002. Virginia was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, and was proprietor of the former Nigro's Restaurant in North Versailles. Her business began from a small restaurant on Route 30 in North Huntingdon called LaDonna's. After outgrowing that establishment , she and her late husband, John Nigro, purchaesed the old L & B Dairy on 5th Avenue in North Versailles, which then became Nigro's Restaurant in 1969. Her ?rst priority over the years was always her family. She also treated her employees as family. To this day, they remember and love her. She passed away peacefully and content with her family by her side. She is survived by her children, Karen A. (Donald J.) Elko of Charleston, SC, Joseph P. (Barbara) Juricich of North Versailles, Maureen (Robert) Magaritz of McDonald, Michael W. Juricich of North Versailles, Nicholas J. (Tina) Nigro of Irwin, and John A. Scott Studebaker (Angel) of Ross, Christopher (Gina) of Allison Park, and Eric (Molly) of Sewickley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Studebaker. Yvonne and Thomas were married on April 24, 1965, at St. Cyril of Alexandria Church. She and Thomas moved to their home on San Pedro Street shortly after their marriage, and there they raised their three sons and beloved dogs, Dino, Charles, and Brady. Yvonne's life revolved around her family, and she was a constant ?xture at her sons' sporting events and school functions. Her favorite memories included summers in the backyard swimming pool and vacations to Wildwood, NJ. After her children were grown, Yvonne worked for Precision Endodontics in the North Hills, where her coworkers enjoyed her pleasant and welcoming personality. Yvonne was preceded in death her mother, Olive Korinsky; her father, Stephen Korinsky; and her sister, Joanne. In addition to her children, Yvonne is survived by her sisters, Audrey, Maryanne, Stephanie, and Debbie; a brother, Jerry; and her eight grandchildren, Adam (Laura), Nick, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Erik, Matt, Lucy, Eliose; and a great-grandson, Jackson. BRATTINA WILLIAM D. Age 71, of Penn Hills, formerly of Jamestown, PA, Bill Brattina died in his sleep on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Born in Braddock, PA, on November 11, 1947, and raised in Forest Hills, he graduated from Churchill High School in 1965, served in Vietnam with the US Navy, and then returned home after three years of world travel to attend and graduate from Duquesne University (BS in Education, 1975) where he met his wife of 40 years, Anita. Together, they raised four children: Katerina, Will, Michael and Annie. He continued to travel with his family and friends while working and raising a family, especially to the Tuscany region of Italy. Retired from Allegheny General Hospital in communications, Bill was a professional photographer who continued with personal and professional photography after he retired. He was an avid golfer, sailor, skier and traveler. In addition to his wife and children, Bill is survived by a brother, Joseph Brattina (Pat), a grandson, Vincent Michael, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bill was widely respected and loved as a friend and con?dant by his family, friends, and colleagues across the country and around the world who he stayed in touch with through his photography and writing. His photographer's gift was the ability to see the world through an optimistic and humor-?lled lens that will never be forgotten. DEVENYI ALICE (VASARHELYI- SZABO) On February 28, at the age of 91, Alice passed away peacefully in Lake Park, Florida, where she lived with her daughter, Cecilia. The eldest of three siblings, she was born in Szekesfehervar to Gyorgy and Julika (Knittlehoffer) and spent her early life in Hungary. As a result of the turmoil created by WWII, she and her family ?ed Hungary and were refugees in Germany, where she met her husband and gave birth to two daughters. In 1951, sponsored by the First Hungarian Lutheran Church of Pittsburgh, her family immigrated to Pittsburgh to make a new life. A longtime Mount Lebanon resident, Alice had a passion for opera and enjoyed attending the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera performances. She also loved playing chess and teaching her children the game. She worked for many years for Industrial Appraisal Company before retiring in the 1980s. She was preceded in death by her husband Istvan, her daughter Alice, and her brother George. She is survived by her sister Margit; her children Ildiko, Aniko, Istvan, Attila, and Cecilia; her grandchildren Aimee, August, Balazs Lajos, Istvan Sandor, Ryan, Lindsey, and Dylan; and her great-grandchildren Auriella, Aurora, Autumn, Brooks, Mason, Nikolai, Vivian, and William. LINKOWSKI JOSEPH Age 74, of Harwick, passed away March 4, 2019. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Varshine Linkowski in 2005 whom he will be laid to rest beside. He was born July 24, 1944 to his parents, the late Waclaw and Anna Dziuban Linkowski and was a lifelong resident of the community. Mr. Linkowski graduated from Springdale High School in 1962. He received his undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in 1966 as well as his master's degree in 1968. Joe worked for Rockwell International for 26 years before starting with PNC where he eventually retired. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Harwick and a former member of St. Mary's of Czestochowa in New Kensington as well as a member of Allegheny Valley Fire Dept., where he worked bingo's and belonged to a Scroll Saw Club. He enjoyed collecting trains, making wooden toys in his wood shop, traveling, visiting the casino and drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds. Surviving him are brother, John (Irene) Linkowski of Allison Park; sister, Patricia Molowski of Mt. Pleasant; special friend, Linda Sudnik of New Kensington; numerous loving nieces and nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Ted (Reese) Varshine; godchildren, Mary Fran Kiehl, Mary Ellen Warmbein, Michael Bozich, Matthew Bozich, Mary Irene Newman and Jennifer Wilson. Besides his parents, Joesph was also preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Zebrak, Helen Bozich and Mary Munroe; and one brother, Steve J. Linkowski. Joe's family will receive friends Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 2-8 p.m., in the CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME , 801 Pittsburgh St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 8th at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of Victory Church with burial to follow in Deer Creek Cemetery.
