JANIEC CATHERINE M. Age 99, of West Deer Township, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019. Catherine dedicated her life to being a devoted wife and mother. Born April 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Vincent C. and Regina A. (Bossick) Mooney. She lived in Johnstown, PA with her husband, Joseph M. Janiec all of her married life and moved to Pittsburgh in 2001 after his death. Here she was able to be near her family and be included in their lives, which meant more to her than anything else. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Wilson and her husband, Raymond, of Gibsonia; granddaughters, Jamie Van Lenten, Lindsey Soxman and Katie Wilson, all of Pittsburgh; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Emily and Luke Van Lenten and Hailey, Natalie and Lucy Soxman. Catherine's family will welcome friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at KING FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC ., 2841 Woodland Circle in Allison Park. VESCIO PETER J. Of Verona died Monday, March 4, 2019 at UPMC East Hospital. Born February 28, 1932, in Verona, to the late John and Carmela Vescio. Beloved husband of the late Rita Vescio of 51 years; father of Joseph Vescio, Chuck (Darlene) Vescio, and Pete (Diane) Vescio; brother of Jerry (Mary) Vescio and the late John Vescio; proud Grandfather of Emma, Justin, and Allison Vescio. He graduated in 1950 from Verona High School, was drafted into the U.S. Army; and was a proud Korean War Veteran. Pete was a Structural Steel Draftsman with more than 30 years of service for the former Ingalls Iron Works in Verona; a Little League and Pony league baseball coach; and a fan of the Steelers and Pirates. A family man, a good neighbor and friend to all that knew him. GRECO ESTHER (COSTAS) Beloved wife, loving mother, and treasured "Yiayia", 88 of Donora, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2019 at home. She was born in Donora on May 18, 1930, a daughter to the late Cleon and Katherine Pontelati Costas. She was a member of St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen, where she was very active in her church for many years and was a member of the Philoptochos Society. A graduate of Donora High School, Mrs. Greco went on to West Penn Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Associate's Degree in Nursing in 1960 and worked for many years at Mon Valley Hospital. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Victor Greco who died on September 9, 2018; four siblings, Gus Costas, Mary Lakerdas, Athena Apostolos, and Helen Kordistos. She is survived by three children, Victoria (Jay) Bedel of Hampton, Katherine (Kyrk) Pyros of Thornburg and Beth (Ken) Callaway of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Demetri, Gregory, Athena, Kenny Paul, Megan and Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Peluso; daughter of Alice and the late Harold Donovan of Massachusetts; sister of Kathleen Ward (the late Stephen), John Donovan (Susan), Donna Donovan (Marshall Kennard), Ann Donovan-Sierra (Gustavo), Donald Donovan, Joseph Donovan (Miriam) and Daniel Donovan (the late Carol); former spouse of Robert Peluso; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Dr. Donovan was Associate Director for Research Administration at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, formerly UPCI, from 2012 to 2017 and Associate Director for Research Services from 2005 to 2012. She was also a faculty member in the Department of Pathology and the Scienti?c Director of Hillman's former Center for Environmental Oncology. In recognition of her contributions to cancer research, Dr. Donovan received the 2017 Merrill J. Egorin Excellence in Scienti?c Leadership Award and will have an annual lectureship established in her name at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. MCBRIDE DANIEL JOHN SR . Age 75, of South Park, Pa., (formerly of Swissvale, Pa.), after a long and courageous battle with end stage renal disease, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Monday, March 4, 2019. Devoted and beloved husband of 46 years to Frances (Tokar) McBride; beloved father of Daniel John McBride, Jr. of South Park and Christine Cosentino (Andrew) of Mt. Lebanon; grandfather of Claire, Julia and Anthony Cosentino; Daniel was preceded in death by his brother John McBride (“Jack,” surviving spouse Carole McBride of Latrobe, Pa.); and his parents, John (“Jack”) and Theresa Potts McBride. Daniel is also survived by his cousins Gretchen McBride of Exeter, NH and Bill O'Reilly of Denver, Co. and many dear nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Dan graduated from Saint Anselm High School in Swissvale, Pa. in 1961 and went on to graduate from Duquesne University where he majored in communications, and trained to be an of?cer in the United States Air Force through the Air Force Reserve Of?cer Training Corps (ROTC). After attending pilot training at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama, Captain McBride went on to ?y approximately 130 combat missions during the Vietnam War as a co-pilot of the B-52 Stratofortress over the course of three deployments from Kincheloe Air Force Base in Kinross, Michigan. Dan considered it the honor of a lifetime to serve his country as a United States Air Force of?cer, and his ?ight crew from his Air Force years remained dear and lifelong friends. Upon his return to civilian life, Dan met and married his beloved wife Fran and took great pride in his children Dan, Jr. and Christy and was devoted to spending time with his family and extended family. Dan worked for the Of?ce of Federal Contract Compliance for the United States Department of Labor until his retirement in 2004. A forty year resident of South Park, Pa., Dan was involved in many community activities, including serving as a coach and board member in baseball and softball leagues, hosting broadcasts of South Park High School football, basketball and hockey games and Community Days, and volunteering with many community organizations, including the Lions Club of South Park, the South Park Democratic Committee, and Nativity Catholic Church Parish Council. During his retirement, Dan was a member of the South Park School District Board of School Directors, and also devoted time to veterans' organizations including the Military Order of the World Wars and the Military Of?cers Association of America. Dan loved contributing to his community through volunteering of his time and efforts and will be remembered fondly by his many cherished friends. JACKSON JOHN R ., JR . John R. Jackson Jr., passed away peacefully on March 4, 2019. He was born March 10, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Helen (McFarland) and John Jackson Sr. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Sarver) Jackson; two sons, Scott (Karen) of Sewickley, PA and Mark (Renee') of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Erica, Joshua, Alec and Nicole; brother, James L. Jackson of Titusville, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a proud Airborne Veteran. He worked at M.E. Cunningham Co. for 30 years as an accountant. After retirement, he kept active by working at Diamond Run Golf Club. As an avid golfer, John would golf any day or time of the week. He enjoyed working in his yard and sharing fruits of his orchard with many. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and was an active member of Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church. MILLER MARK A. Former Pittsburgh area native, age 58, died suddenly on March 5, 2019 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mark was born August 13, 1960, the youngest son of Harry R. and Matilda (Pici) Miller of North Versailles, PA. Mark was a 1978 graduate of East Allegheny High School and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics specializing in aircraft maintenance . Upon graduating from PIA, he relocated to Texas and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he worked for American Airlines, most recently as a crew chief. Mark had a lifelong passion for the beach, his dogs, channel- sur?ng, cooking for family gatherings, a good workout and was a huge fan of music. He never failed to lend a hand where needed.   Preceded in death by his father, Harry.     Survived by a loving family including his loving life partner, Pam Chaf?n; mother, Matilda (Matty); brothers, Harry Jr. “Rick” (Barbara), Michael;     sister, Linda (John Coulter);     niece, Amanda Miller; nephews, Kevin Miller, Ryan Coulter and Matthew Coulter. They moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1971 and she came to Gibsonia in 2009. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church, and past President of American Legion of Florida. ZEMBA IRENE MARIE (WRUBLEWSKI) Age 91, of Bethel Park, passed peacefully at home on Monday, March 4, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Francis Zemba; daughter of the late Konstanty Wrublewski and Bronislau Zlotnik; devoted mother of Stephen Edward (Angela Sue Nuckols) and Holly Zemba; caring grandmother of Alison Marie (Casey) Plouffe and Ashley Zemba; loving great- grandmother (“GiGi”) of Angela, Ella Marie, Grace and Lizzie Plouffe. She was preceded in death by siblings, Clara Olup, Delores Nowak, Helen Baczkowski and Edward Wrublewski. She is survived by two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews and friends galore. Irene, “Reenie”, was a graduate of Duquesne University with a degree in Education. Reenie educated children for 39 years, beginning her successful career with the Baldwin- Whitehall School District and ending her professional teaching tenure at Pittsburgh's Carmalt Elementary School. Irene retired the day she turned 62 to spend time with and helping with the early education of her two granddaughters. She read of her students' accomplishments with pride and gushed with joy when they acknowledged her years later in life . In the next 29 years, she enjoyed - spending time with her family, shuttling her grandchildren (and their friends) to basketball, soccer, softball, band, dance and other events, proudly watching in the stands; and, spoiling her great- grandchildren watching proudly, again. She was a competitive, caring soul enjoying her daily crossword puzzles, Card Club and her Polka and Bingo friends. Family, church (Confession brings forgiveness (Psalms 32:5)), her Polish heritage and all vacations, especially the beach, were her favorite parts of life.
